The circulation paths through the building vary in the lower floors due to the many different types of spaces in these floors. The parking garage circles from the southwest entrance, around the middle of the building and out of the southwest exit. The dining areas have a few designated entrances and elevators in the middle of the building. Residents can take a plethora of extraneous paths to get where they need to be throughout the building on this level.

 

The ground floor retail areas have a multitude of entrances to suit the many shops that will be centered there. These shops have three different stairs to service the shops. There are also entrances for residents to come in through the lobby on the east side of the building. These allow the residents to take a path to any of the study rooms, lounges, or elevators they need to. The staff can also use these entrances to get to the various offices throughout the first floor.

 

The mezzanine has elevator and stair entrances to get to the fitness room in the middle of the building. There is a stair on the west side of the building to service the mechanical room.

 

The 2nd through 24th floors have elevator or stair access to the hallways outside their apartments. They can walk the halls freely to get to their apartments. There are stairs on the ends and in the middle of the building to provide each resident with an exit, which of course is to provide easy stair access in emergencies.

 

Egress:

 

The exits and stairwells are labeled clearly in red areas and arrows throughout the drawings below. These areas are the exits that must be used in cases of emergency for residents to exit the building safely. The few exceptions are the elevators, since usually elevators are off limits during fire emergency situations. Exit signs leading to doorways and stairwells should be lit during an emergency in order to allow occupants to exit the building without scrambling to find an exit.
